Work Times

This week has been a pretty busy one. The poetry test has really been getting me nervous. So, out of anxiety I studied for it. I also picked up a new book to read; since I recently finished Perks of Being A Wallflower. My new book is called, The Glass Castle, and it's very good so far. In fact, a friend recommended it to me when we were looking in the library. Also, I have been dabbling with my paper quite a bit. Not so much that it made a big difference but, a substantial amount.

Your Song

'Your Song'
by: Elton John

I analyzed the song, Your Song, by Elton John. A classic, performed by the wonderful Elton John, is one of my all time favorite songs. Elton John in a number of his songs, portrays specific poetic and theme based lyrics to set a mood for the situation of the song.

There are multiple poetic techniques throughout the song. Sibilance appears specifically when the lyrics say, "Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen". That verse can also serve as euphony, the verse is actually expresses smooth tone for the song. Consonance is also demonstrated in most of the song. For example often times sounds like o or id throughout the lyrics. The tone of, Your Song, seems to be an amorous attitude. There are a couple of dictions throughout the lyrics, for example, "

Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross.

But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song". The speaker is speaking about possibly their companion. The purpose of the song is to express a feeling mainly towards love and possibly respect. My overall interpretation of this song is for it to serve as an entertainment but also an expression.

Research Paper

I worked on my research paper for about 4 days and well.. In those four days I probably spent like a billion hours a day writing it. I'm pretty sure my paper is about 6 pages long without the citations. So basically that paper took over my little 'snow break' we had. I feel pretty confident in it overall but of course it's normal to have uncertainty about it. I get really nervous about how I put things into my essay. For example quoting and things like that. Even though I most likely didn't, I feel as if somehow somewhere I'd be using some words of someone else that I never even saw. Plagiarism scares me thats all.

I think the easy part in a way was organizing it. I thought that was going to be hard but, it came out for the best. The hardest part was giving interesting and accurate information about what my topic was all about. I didn't want each thing I said to sound similar to the last so it was fairly difficult to switch it up.

I feel like when I get my feedback it'll be about repeating info. The one thing I'm not confident about. Like I'm saying the same thing over again. Which of course I don't mean to but my mind tends to dose off so I just repeat the process of what I've already written. But, I must say overall I think my paper is getting there. I like it a lot, definitely my best one yet.

If I had describe my break due to the 'snow' it would be homework, Netflix, and just a whole bunch of lounging. Although it didn't seem like a lot of work, it was for me. Virtual school was like double schoolwork. Somehow I actually managed to complete all the work. Throughout the three days I kind of mixed in procrastination of Netflix and music with the schoolwork. It was pretty chill and enjoyable overall.
Since the roads were really icy my mom got to stay home so that was a bunch of fun. We just chilled the entire time. It was nice just staying home for a couple of days. It's going to be so hard to get through an entire week of school. Although the 'break' is over, it was enjoyable and I'm grateful to have it.

Topic description

I have surely learned a huge amount of information from my topic. My topic is, rights and responsibilities of women in World War II. I was actually surprised by the amount of mistreat towards women during the duration of WW2. Women had far less opportunities and benefits than men. Most groups of women in WW2 did gain multiple beneficial rights and factors that would lead to almost the end of gender inequality in war.

Women in World War II had many different roles they could act as. Some jobs included being a nurse, air-force, navy, coast guard, working on the home front, and in general in the women's army corps. In my opinion the group that had the most difficult time in gender inequality was the air-force women. The air-force for women was called the WASP. There received tremendously low training, pay, and benefits of any kind. For a period of time women in the American military didn't have correct uniform badges or patches that signified their standing or rank in their group. Women were put at stack just as much as men though. Even the home front jobs were difficult. Women would often take place of their husband who went off to war. Some of those jobs included machinery work, factory working, rationing food, supplying, etc. In conclusion, women basically had it tough all the way through World War II.
