When we first arrived to class we were instructed to sit on the floor. Floor time is always fun so everyone was quick to go and sit. Once Dr. D told us that we had been, 'in a plane crash' the entire class was rambling. When Dr. D mentioned that there were sixteen first graders with us everyone freaked. I found some of the ideas to manage the children really odd; I personally would have paired each one with one of us and kind of 'parent' them and guide them. First, we conducted a leader. In my opinion I felt like it was realistic and we were stranded we would need a better and more efficient way of choosing a leader. Mainly because the leader is the biggest role and needs to be the responsible one at all times. After that, we split up into three groups; Three groups were for the three main needs to survive which was food, shelter, and water. Since our class wasn't actually stranded on an island we didn't think much. With all the chatter about the roles and yadayada our leader decided to use a tape dispenser to symbolize a 'talking stick'. I thought that was a really good idea, they also did that in LOTF.
If we were actually stranded on an island, without any adults I don't think we would manage very well. A bunch of 9th graders running around with 16 first graders, well just a recipe for disaster depending on the people. With my specific english class I think there would be a lot of situations with survival issues and such just because we're just a leadership type of class. We all like to get stuff done and do it right.
